What sets the price
- The number of pages
- One landing page is a small project. More pages make your site more interesting, but they take more time to design and test.
- What the site has to do
- You can add all kinds of functions to a site. A contact form is a relatively simple one to build. Booking, a webshop, multiple languages or a link to your accounting are the large items. That is why I always name them separately in the proposal.
- Who writes the copy
- If you provide the copy yourself, the process moves faster and sounds more like you. I can have it written instead, and then it goes on the hourly rate.
- What already exists
- With a brand and good photography in hand, I build on it. Without, we make it along the way and that takes time.
- How often we adjust
- The Complete package includes one design proposal and two review rounds to steer with. More review rounds are possible, at the hourly rate.
What is not included
Clear up front beats a surprise on the invoice.
- Copy you do not supply
- I would rather you wrote it, because you know how you talk to your customers. That reads better than anything I would invent. If it does not work out, I have it written at the hourly rate.
- Photography
- Your own photographs beat stock every time. If you have none, we will talk through the options.
- A logo or brand from scratch
- I work with what you have. Designing a brand is its own project.
- Third-party licences
- For example, a booking system, a payment provider or an inventory integration. Those costs run directly between you and that company.
- Advertising budget
- What you spend at Google or Meta is separate from what the site costs.
What it costs after that
Not much. The sites I make are static, so they run on hosting that is free at normal traffic levels.
- Domain namePaid to whoever you register it with. A .nl runs about twelve euros.
- €10 to €15/year
- HostingStatic sites run on the free tier at Netlify or Cloudflare. If you insist on your own plan, count on €5 to €15 a month.
- €0
- MaintenanceOptional. This is not the hosting but the care: updates, backups, and someone who notices a thing broke before you do.
- €25 or €39/mo
Without a maintenance plan you pay about fifteen euros a year and nothing more. Changes then go by the hour.
How a project runs
- 01
Intake
You fill in the intake form or we have a quick call. After that I know where you stand and what you need.
- 02
Proposal
Fixed price, fixed scope, in writing. You know what you get before anything gets built.
- 03
Design and build
I show you where it stands as it goes, you steer. No big reveal at the end.
- 04
Live
I put it online, set up findability, and show you how to change the small things yourself.
A Starter is usually live within one to two weeks, a Complete package within two to four weeks. What sets the pace is how quickly the copy and the images arrive, not my calendar.
I invoice half on agreement and half on delivery. After delivery the site is yours, code included. You are not tied to anything.
Common questions
- What does a website cost on average in the Netherlands?
- It varies widely. A template you fill in yourself starts around a hundred euros a year. A freelancer usually sits between €1,000 and €5,000. An agency starts considerably higher, because there you pay for a team. I sit in the middle on purpose: custom work, without the overhead.
- Why is an agency more expensive?
- At an agency you pay for a team: someone for contact, someone for planning, a designer and a developer. On a large project that pays off. With me you talk to the person who also builds it, so there is no layer in between passing information along. That shows in the price and usually in the timeline.
- Could a template not do it cheaper?
- Yes, and sometimes that is the right call. If you mostly want to be online quickly and how it looks matters less, take a template. The difference is in how it looks and how fast it loads. A template makes your site look like a thousand others and drags along code you never use. If your website is the first impression of your work, you notice.
- What does a website cost per month?
- Only your domain name, which works out to about a euro a month. The sites I build run on free hosting. If you want me to handle maintenance, that is €25 or €39 a month.
- How long until my site is live?
- One to two weeks for a Starter, two to four weeks for a Complete. The biggest variable is how quickly your copy and photographs arrive.
- What do you need from me?
- Your copy, your images, your brand if you have one, and someone who can make decisions. That is all.
- What if I want to change something later?
- Small things go by the hour, at €90. With Full Maintenance, one hour a month is included. For copy and photographs I can set it up so you change them yourself.
- Is the website mine afterwards?
- Yes. The site is yours, code included. You are not tied to anything and you can take it to someone else at any time.
